Steve has more than 25 years’ experience of working for financial institutions, energy companies, governments and NGOs in a variety of strategic, operational and policy roles. His most recent role has been to set up the cross-industry coalition SEA\LNG, which brings together key players in the shipping value chain to help break down commercial obstacles to global use of LNG as a marine fuel.

Prior to this Steve worked at Xyntéo, where he gained considerable experience designing and facilitating new kinds of conversations between a wide range of corporate and non-governmental sectors, to help create new narratives, a shared understanding of challenges, and innovative collaborative solutions to challenges around the energy and climate transition.

He began his career as a Geophysicist at BP, subsequently working in a variety of business development, strategy and analysis roles in the company’s gas, power & renewables and energy trading businesses.

  • Steve previously worked in the City of London for a commodity futures market, later leading the development of financial instruments for the energy sector and for management consultants Pöyry Energy and Caminus
  • He was born and spent his earliest years in Southern Africa, and got his first insights into the astonishing range of human attitudes when he moved to Wales aged 5 and discovered that the people there complained about rain instead of celebrating it
  • He speaks native English and fluent Spanish
